Tucked away on South Australia's rugged Limestone Coast, Robe has a remarkable history, diverse and exciting attractions and beaches that offer an idyllic lifestyle and highly engaged community. The District Council of Robe is in a new stage of growth and looking to expand and promote the natural and cultural tourism of the area.  With the opportunity to be part of this new and exciting phase, work closely with the CEO and leave your mark on a community. The District Council of Robe are looking for an experienced professional with proven success in a senior tourism, travel, visitor services or events role.

This exciting newly created position will drive the delivery and implementation of a strategic plan for tourism and events, ensure that day-to-day operations incorporate memorable visitor experiences and build excellence in tourism and growth of the Robe economy. You will be a leader across community and deliver a program of events that puts Robe on the map as a destination location.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement a strategic plan to activate year-round growth in Robe’s visitor economy;
  • Work in partnership with peak local, state and national tourism industry bodies to ensure Robe is appropriate marketed and branded as a key location on the Limestone Coast;
  • Leverage existing tourism assets and develop new innovative products (including e-tourism) and projects to increase visitor stays and spends;
  • Develop and manage a strategic branding and marketing campaign for Robe;
  • Accountable for leadership and management of the visitor information centre and library;
  • Support and grow existing events while also designing new events and leading the implementation of events within the District Council of Robe;
  • Ensure connections and collaborations with other councils on the Limestone Coast to provide an enhanced visitor experience through leveraging the Region’s tourism assets.

To be  successful in this role you will need to demonstrate a working knowledge of financial concepts, proven strategic and business planning skills, as well as an inclusive, customer focused and engaging management style, with the ability to successfully build relationships and networks with a wide range of stakeholders and community.

The District Council of Robe could be your next opportunity to be part of a new and exciting phase, working closely with the CEO, part of the Council’s Senior Management Team and embedding yourself in a community poised for growth.

Are you experienced in Infrastructure Management or Engineering Projects in a complex environment, can demonstrate the provision of high quality, efficient and effective whole of life assets (physical and natural)? Are you a project management master that can provide leadership and direction for the Development, Planning and Harbour Master/General Inspectorate teams? Can you demonstrate strategic leadership capabilities, an inclusive and engaging management style, think strategically and foster new ideas to develop innovative business solutions? Key Responsibilities include:

  • Deliver integrated plans, including Community, Annual and Assets;
  • Be accountable for the Departments budget and financial management and an active participant in the development and delivery of Council’s capital and operating budgets;
  • Be accountable for the delivery of current and future capital works strategies, plans, programs and asset management services that provide maximum economic, social and environmental value for Council, residents and visitors;
  • Provide leadership and oversee Councils Harbour Master and General Inspectorate team
  • Take ownership of Council’s key services including CWMS, waste management, parks and gardens, maintenance, construction and reconstruction of Council’s assets;
  • Manage relationships with key commercial partners of the Council;
  • Provide leadership and oversee Councils Development and Planning team and manage critical capital and civil projects.
