Just a quick note to say thank you to our incredibly proactive community for showing such leadership and integrity in the last 24 hours.

In the main, the response to my post yesterday has been overwhelmingly positive. There is great understanding around why minimising the influx into Robe is so important at this time.

Some of our accommodation and tourism businesses have taken extraordinary measures to protect the health of our community such as cancelling all forward bookings for the next 4-6 months.

As the financial implications begin to sink in, I urge all small businesses to contact their bank, their accountants and get on websites such as Business SA to determine what government relief packages are available to them. The following sites may also assist you with your planning:

As we see our much loved local businesses begin to close under the governments direction and the stark reality of this situation becomes apparent, we can be thankful that we live in such a connected, supportive community which will bounce back as soon as the opportunity arises.

If you are feeling isolated, vulnerable or have some ideas to assist the community in the near future, please feel free to call or email me.

Take care

Mayor Alison Nunan
