Draft Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Policy
Pursuant to the Local Government Act 1999 and Council’s Public Consultation Policy, Council is consulting with the community on the draft Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Policy which is available here.
This policy outlines Councils approach to the implementation, operation, and management of CCTV systems aimed at enhancing public safety and protecting Council facilities.
While recognising the community’s desire for privacy, the policy justifies CCTV use in specific circumstances to reduce crime, improve security, and assist SAPOL in criminal investigations.
Feedback on this draft is invited to ensure the policy is an appropriate balance between privacy concerns and the need for safety and security in public spaces.
