Council Backs Trio of Local Events

The District Council of Robe has demonstrated its support for the economic and social benefits that local events provide, with the announcement of cash and in-kind support to several upcoming events.

The continued support will assist three community driven events whilst also attracting visitors to the area and boosting local businesses.

Council has dipped into its Community Assistance Fund to support the Robe Motorsports Club for its South Australian Motorcross State Title Round. The funding will enable the provision of essential first aid response services during the event, scheduled at the Sandy Lane track on 29 & 30 June 2024.

Additionally, Council will donate and cart surplus road rubble for the purpose of maintenance to the clubs’ grounds, estimated in-kind support of a further $2,000.

Mayor Ruffell said, “the allocation of $2,000 cash and $2,000 in-kind funding support for the Robe Motorsports Club exemplifies our commitment to ensuring safety and enhancing the experience for participants and spectators alike."

The Robe Beer Festival is locked in again for 26 October 2024 where Council is providing in-kind sponsorship to the value of $2,000 for the facilitation of road closures and waiving hire fees for the Robe Institute and Foreshore, ensuring a picturesque space for event attendees and brewing enthusiasts alike.

“We're thrilled to continue our partnership with the Robe Beer Festival, providing in-kind support to create a vibrant and enjoyable environment for all attendees. Events like these showcase Robe's unique charm and support our local businesses”, Mayor Ruffell said.

Looking ahead to 2025, the renowned Robe Boat Show has been reimagined by new event organisers, changing both the date and focus.  The event has been renamed to the ‘Limestone Coast Marine & Adventure Show’.

With a vision to celebrate maritime and adventure pursuits, this event has a planned relaunch to be staged over the Australia Day Long Weekend and moving from a Saturday-Sunday event to Friday-Saturday 24-25 January 2025. Council will also provide in-kind sponsorship like that of the Robe Beer Festival event, totalling $2,750.

“Looking ahead to the Limestone Coast Marine & Adventure Show, formerly the Robe Boat Show, we're excited about its evolution. This event not only celebrates our coastal heritage but also promises to attract visitors over the Australia Day Long Weekend, activating our foreshore and providing free entertainment for our community and visitors alike”, Mayor Ruffell said.

In total, Council’s support of these events will total $8,750 of cash and in-kind expenses.
