Boat Ramp

As part of the State and Federal Governments’ Algal Bloom Summer Plan, Council is pleased to share several new measures designed to support recreational boaters over the next 12 months.

From 1 December 2025, recreational boat users across South Australia will benefit from:

  • 50% discount on recreational boat and light boat trailer registration fees
  • Free access to all South Australian boat ramps, including the Lake Butler Marina boat ramp in Robe

To enable Robe’s participation, Council has entered into a grant agreement with the State Government. The grant offsets a portion of the revenue normally collected at the Lake Butler Marina boat ramp; however, our forecast income exceeds the grant amount. Council will therefore subsidise the difference to ensure our community receives the full benefit of this statewide initiative.

Council will continue to maintain full care, control and management of the boat ramp and related infrastructure throughout the 12-month program.

What this means for Robe:

  • Free use of the Lake Butler Marina boat ramp from 1 December 2025 to 30 November 2026
  • No permits or launch fees required
  • No changes to access, maintenance, or service levels
  • Automatic 50% registration discount applied to recreational boat users at your next renewal (or from 1 December if currently unregistered)

We acknowledge the support of the Government of South Australia through the Algal Bloom Summer Plan.

If you have already paid for a permit that extends beyond 1 December 2025, please contact Council to arrange a refund. While we have details for some recent purchases made through our office, we may not have contact information for those who purchased via the app or earlier in the year.

For further information, please contact the Council office.
