AUDIT AND RISK COMMITTEE EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

The District Council of Robe is calling a qualified and experienced Independent Member to join our Audit and Risk Committee until November 2026.

We will value your strong skills which will complement our existing Committee Members in Accounting, Financial Management and Risk Management.

About the Committee

The purpose of an Audit and Risk Committee established by a Council is to provide independent assurance and advice to the council on accounting, financial management, internal controls, risk management and governance matters.

We offer a sitting fee of $300 per meeting, travel allowance in accordance with the ATO guidelines, and travel time allowance of $50 for 30-50km and $100 for 50-100km.

Responsibilities of our Audit and Risk Committee include:

  • Review financial statements and strategic management plans.
  • Monitor the implementation of improvement recommendations.
  • Assess the adequacy of accounting, internal controls, reporting and financial management systems and practices.
  • Provide oversight of the internal audit reports.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of policies, systems and procedures related to strategic, financial, and operational risk management.
  • Review and prudential issues report.
  • Collaborate with the auditor as required by financial management regulations.

Reporting to the Director Childcare, the Early Childhood Team Leader  is a key member of Council's Child Care on Wheels Service and is responsible for ensuring the provision of appropriate programs to suit the needs of every child, 0-6 years of age. The team leader will also be responsible for the coordination and direction of childcare staff and volunteers and will assist the Director Childcare with administrative functions of the service as required.

The Team Leader should be be enthusiastic, energetic, and a versatile leader to be a part of our innovative mobile service, delivering high quality childcare across the Robe region.

Requirements for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education OR Diploma in Children’s Services (with a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Team leader)
  • Current approved first aid, CPR, anaphylaxis, and asthma qualifications
  • A current Working with Children and Police check
  • Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education and Care Training - RRHAN-EC Training Certificate
  • Knowledge and understanding of National Law, National Regulations, National Quality Standards, Early Years Learning Framework
  • Confidence in collaborating with our families and the local community.
  • Proven ability to lead, guide, support, mentor and supervise a team.
  • The ability to incorporate critical thinking, reflective practice into your daily functions, with a strong solution focused approach.
  • Current drivers’ license
  • Pre-medical prior to employment
  • Australian working rights
