Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2026-2030
The District Council of Robe’s Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) 2026–2030, adopted by Council in April 2026, outlines Council’s commitment to creating a more accessible and inclusive community for people with disability, their families and carers. The Plan provides a practical framework to guide improvements across Council services, facilities, information, community engagement and decision-making.
Developed through community consultation and a co-design process facilitated by JFA Purple Orange, the DAIP reflects local priorities, lived experience and Council’s capacity as a small regional council. It focuses on identifying and removing barriers in the built environment, communication, systems and attitudes to support equitable access and participation in community life.
The DAIP aligns with the Disability Inclusion Act 2018 (SA), the State Disability Inclusion Plan 2025–2029 and Council’s Strategic Plan 2024–2028. It will be implemented through realistic and measurable actions, embedded into Council’s everyday operations, planning and service delivery, to support a welcoming and inclusive community for all.
Council's Previous Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (2020–2022)
Council endorsed its first Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) 2020–2022 in 2020, providing an initial framework to improve access and inclusion across Council services, facilities and community life. The Plan was aligned with Council’s Community Plan 2019–2029 and the State Disability Inclusion Plan at the time, ensuring both local relevance and compliance with legislative requirements.
The development of the 2020–2022 DAIP was informed by community engagement, including a public survey and input from key stakeholders, which helped identify local access needs, challenges and priorities. The Plan guided Council’s approach to embedding access and inclusion across its policies, procedures and operations.
