New Bulk-Billed Medical Service to Commence in Robe from March 2026
The District Council of Robe has confirmed that a new primary healthcare service will commence at the Robe Medical Centre from Monday 2 March 2026, ensuring the continuation of local medical services for the Robe community.
The new service will operate to an improved service standard and will be fully bulk billed, meaning patients will not incur out-of-pocket costs for eligible services.
Council recognises that recent announcements regarding the Robe Medical Centre have caused concern within the community. Council wishes to reassure residents that medical services in Robe are not ending but are transitioning to a new service model designed to provide greater stability, accessibility, and long-term sustainability.
As part of its commitment to supporting ongoing medical services, Council has also invested in the purchase of a residential property to assist with practitioner accommodation and workforce attraction and retention.
Mayor Lisa Ruffell said Council’s focus has remained firmly on securing long-term healthcare access for the Robe community.
“Council understands how important local medical services are to our residents, particularly for families, older people and those who rely on regular care,” Mayor Ruffell said.
“Our priority has been to ensure Robe continues to have a stable, accessible medical service into the future, and the new fully bulk-billed service commencing in March 2026 is a positive outcome for our community.”
The Robe Medical Centre will continue to operate as a medical facility, and further information regarding the new service model, practitioners, and operating arrangements will be provided to the community in the coming weeks.
Council thanks the community for its patience during this transition period and looks forward to welcoming the new service to Robe in 2026.
