Obelisk Health to Open New Family Medical Practice in Robe

Obelisk Health is delighted to be opening a new general practice in Robe following negotiations with the District Council of Robe to provide local GP and nursing services for the community.

Our goal is simple: to build a friendly, reliable family medical practice that feels part of everyday life in Robe. We are committed to being here for the long term and to earning the trust of local residents through high-quality, caring healthcare.

Opening day is 2 March, and the clinic will be open Monday to Friday.  We are looking to trial a weekend clinic and a late-night clinic to see what best suits the needs of the Robe community, including working families and those who find it hard to attend during business hours.

Although it was not required by Council, Obelisk Health has chosen to run the practice as a bulk-billing clinic, reflecting our commitment to accessible care in rural communities. From our experience working in regional communities, we know this helps people access quality care earlier and more easily, without worrying about out-of-pocket costs.

Our intent is all existing allied health services, including physiotherapy and speech therapy, will continue at the clinic. Over time, we aim to introduce additional services such as skin clinics, sleep clinics, diagnostic ultrasound, sleep services, and other visiting health services, based on what the community needs most.

Obelisk Health is focused on making the transition as seamless as possible for the Robe community. We have been in discussions with the current practice owner, Dr David Senior, for the past four months with the aim of supporting continuity of care. Unfortunately, those discussions were ended by Dr Senior earlier this month. Our priority now is to ensure the community continues to have access to reliable, high-quality local healthcare.

“We are genuinely excited to become part of the Robe community and to provide stable, long-term healthcare for local families,” Dr Malcolm Miller, co-founder of Obelisk Health said. “Our aim is to offer care that is accessible, respectful, and built around the people who live here.”
